Troubadour Golf & Field is, in a simple word, incredible. Nestled in the picturesque rolling hills of Tennessee and just an hour’s drive from Nashville, this Discovery Land Company course has quickly become a must-play destination for golfers throughout the state and beyond.
One of the most captivating features of this course is the way the early morning fog drifts across the fairways, gradually giving way to the warm glow of the rising sun. This scene creates a dramatic yet tranquil atmosphere as players approach the first tee. Morning at Troubadour captures this magical moment, with the rolling fog and soft sunlight flares setting the tone for a peaceful round of golf.
For this Troubadour Golf & Field Painting:
I began by sketching the composition on a large 36″ x 48″ cotton-primed canvas—my absolute favorite size. Next, I applied the imprimatura, a vibrant orange base layer.
After laying down a few simple block layers, I used my trusted Mundy Mop brush from Rosemary to add the fog.
With each new layer, I carefully introduced the sun flares, building them up gradually as I refined the details.
This is one of my favorite golf course pieces. The vibrant light on the 18th hole contrasts with the cool blue shadows as fog rolls through the trees. Tom Fazio’s Troubadour design perfectly complements the beauty of the Tennessee landscape, capturing its calm atmosphere. Morning at Troubadour would be a striking addition to any space, especially against a dark wall where its light and color truly stand out.
