When you step onto the fairways of Troubadour Golf and Field, you’re not just playing a round of golf; you’re walking into an elevated world of golf and community. Nestled in the heart of Tennessee, this club is renowned for its commitment to showcasing the perfect balance of challenging golf and scenic beauty. And so when a collector reached out about painting a commission right outside their backyard, I was beyond excited.
Owned by Discovery Land Company, Troubadour Golf and Field reflects a phenomenal dedication to creating unique environments for its members. Discovery Land Company is known worldwide for perfection. I painted a golf painting of one of their other property’s, Baker’s Bay Ocean & Golf Club, as a thank you gift for a member for having a group of guests out. Check out that painting below, and read more about it here.

The journey of this painting began with visiting the course for reference photos. We initially thought the view from their back porch would be the winner, but this bird’s eye view of the course ended up the favorite. That’s one of my favorite parts about the process-working with collectors over a few ideas and ending up with something exciting!

The painting started with an imprimatura and sketch, allowing me to establish the foundational layout of this golf course painting. As I moved to the block-in phase, I focused on defining shapes and masses, creating a balanced composition. From there, the final painting emerged, layered with subtle details that bring the course to life.

And here’s the final painting! (HUGE shout out to my husband for building the frame. Finishes off the painting SO well)
